In 2021, the tichyocean opened an exhibition space in Zürich, presenting thematic exhibitions of contemporary art that draw on the collection itself, but also transcend it and reflect on current cultural and social events. In collaboration with artists, curators and other art professionals, tichyocean also organizes a series of lectures and art performances.
The three-storey building on the banks of the Limmat river houses the art space, offices of Psychcentral and private apartment of Mr. Buxbaum and his family. Throughout the labyrinth of the former industrial brick building, artworks from the tichyocean collection can be discovered, including those installed in situ, such as the work «After Any Given Time» by Lawrence Weiner, which is mounted on a façade. Psychcentral’s offices, meeting rooms and hallways feature works by artists of the Art Beyond Cultural Definition collection.
The exhibition and event program of tichyocean foundation in Zürich is aligned with the daily activities in the house. The themes of art and psyche are presented together, in a naturally connected environment that allows for mutual dialogue.
Exhibitions change four times a year, drawing from tichyocean’s collection to present ever new, surprising, and unusual projects. tichyocean identifies itself as a place of art exchange and demonstrates a different value system based on mutual respect, creating a critical form of artistic dialogue that goes beyond the art market.
